Services for Couples Considering or Undergoing Divorce

Family Resources has counselors whom are licensed as Marriage and Family Therapists, meaning we have more training, experience, and expertise in marriage and family therapy than other disciplines. Relationships and couples are our specialty.

If a couple does decide that they would be better apart, Family Resources can help each party to adjust to the stress and changes brought by separation and divorce. Divorce counseling is mediation in preparation for parenting plans and divorce visitation schedules. It also involves preparing children to adjust to "mom's house/dad's house" and helping parents move on in a healthy way.

We can also help your children deal with your divorce and identify how they may be expressing stress related to the divorce/custody case. To this end, we offer our class for divorcing parents — a class which has become mandatory for divorcing parents in Nebraska.

Who's Taking Care of the Children?
...a divorcing parents workshop

This is an interactive, energizing class that promotes brainstorming, problem solving and sharing as parents are re-oriented towards successful single parenting.

This class is designed to meet the court ordered requirements in Nebraska for divorcing parents.  Our class offers parents the opportunity to focus on their children's needs during divorce/separation by reviewing the stress symptoms in children, designing goals for their children and identifying ways to reduce the stress by recognizing barriers and providing structure.

This class helps your child survive and thrive while helping you take care of yourself and move forward.

In our Grand Island office, this class is taught by our own motivational therapist, Carrie Sheldon.  She brings humor and practical experience to the table and consistently gets rave reviews. In fact there is a waiting list, so we suggest pre-registration as class size is limited.  This class is offered twice monthly on Saturday mornings from nine to noon.  In our Kearney office, dates and times vary depending upon group size.  Please call to inquire.

Release of Vows Ceremony

To help give closure to a divorcing couple, Seanne Larson Emerton offers a Release of Vows ceremony. This ceremony assists in helping a divorcing couple let go and move forward in a healthy, baggage-free manner.
