Our founder, Seanne Larson Emerton, received postgraduate training in family systems while employed with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. She was trained by Jamshed Morenas through the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center, who himself had trained with Salvador Minuchin, the founding father of family systems therapy. Through the years the vision for Family Resources has expanded to include working with individuals desiring an understanding of their family systems, as well as business and corporate systems wanting to facilitate healthy workplace environments.
Seanne has over 20 years experience as a certified counselor working with individuals, families, and organizations. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist, and clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She is certified in EMDR, Levels I and II, and certified to administer and interpret the EQ-I instrument measuring Emotional Intelligence.
Systems-trained through Philadelphia Child Guidance, Seanne utilizes solution-focused, holistic and positive psychology to coach individuals, families and organizations in reaching their greatest potential. Seanne’s speciality is facilitating healthy workplace environments and enhancing customer service.
She serves as a board member of Consultants Consortium, Inc, a national organizational and healthcare consulting group. Seanne also serves as a board member of the Nebraska Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce, the Executive Committee of the Goodwill Board and is Foundation Board President of Stuhr Museum. Married with two adult sons and a daughter-in-law, Seanne enjoys time with her family, travel, music, nature and exploring spirituality.
