Anger Reduction
This program uses several approaches to anger management, and begins with a thorough pre-treatment assessment of individual needs including: depression, anxiety, substance abuse, domestic violence and history of trauma. Participants will either receive individualized therapy based on elements including Language, Movement, Cognitive Restructuring, and Accountability, or be referred for other appropriate treatment, such as intensive substance abuse care.
Participants will learn to use assertive speech instead of passive & aggressive expression. Body stance, practiced forms of movement, and safety plans, cues and signals are taught as ways to avoid physical harm. Participants learn to change behavioral, emotional, and thinking patterns through training in interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, core mindfulness, and rational emotive thinking. And Twelve-Step Program work not only focuses on substance abuse, but addresses anger management specifics, too.
